Dedicated to myself:
For all the times that I cried, and there was nowhere to hide.
A place that would understand, that very little is in my command.
In the shadows and corners, where no one is a foreigner.
I refuse to feel lonely, if only someone had shown me.
A place that could rewind, without leaving me behind.
These tears that set me apart, erode a path in my heart.
Hug & Seek
Theme: ‘Hotel’ Material: Ice & Wax Building Class: Orphanage
A set of elevated ice cubes were huddled together and then hot wax was poured over them. The model captures a reaction between the ice and wax. In the end only the wax remains embodying the impression of the ice that has long melted away. This structure encloses residences for orphans within irregular bulbous forms. The space between the residences and the outer walls is a rock climbing gym which is also the means of circulation. The form is an elevated fortress of protection, where orphans continuously train their mental and physical stamina in preparation for the world outside.
